Welcome to Nissan's future, courtesy of the Ariya all-electric SUV, expected to arrive in a showroom near you in 2021. It might look like a concept car, but this is exactly how the five-seater will look when it hits the streets. When it does, it will need to compete with a new breed of electric rivals like the upcoming Skoda Enyaq and Hyundai 45. It's likely to cost from just under ￡40,000 and marks "a new era for electric vehicles" according to Nissan management. At launch there'll be a choice of 63kWh and 87kWh battery packs, along with two- or four-wheel drive, dubbed "e-4orce". The front-wheel drive version will produce either 215 or 239bhp, respectively, getting from 0-62mph in under eight seconds, with a driving range of up to 223 miles for the smaller battery and 310 miles for the 87kWh edition.
