Rather than crying into his Pilsner, Gavin Braithwaite-Smith embarks on a 1,500-mile drive to say farewell to the Skoda Yeti We couldn't let it die without saying goodbye. In the eight years since the Skoda Yeti went on sale, it has cemented itself as a much-loved member of the crossover community, achieving cult status in the process. But now its time is up, Skoda choosing to replace the Yeti with the faceless and more corporate sounding Karoq. Its replacement will almost certainly be a better car, but it's unlikely to steal hearts and minds in quite the same way as its quirky predecessor. Which is why we felt obliged to give the Yeti a proper send off: a full-on road trip, complete with ferry crossings, 1,500 miles and more weather than the Met Office smartphone app. Oh, and there's the small matter of an appropriate destination.
