In today's operating facilities,it is critical to have robust mechanical integrity(Ml)programs that provide the capability to understand the various parameters that affect asset integrity so that inspections can be planned accordingly.Many facilities have adopted risk-based inspec-j tion(RBI)programs to increase the effectiveness of preventing loss of primary containment(LOPC)events.1 In addition to RBI programs,integrity operating window(IOW)implementation is a natural extension of MI programs.IOWs are defined by API Recommended Practice(RP)5842 as”established limits for process variables that can affect the integrity of equipment if the operation deviates from the established limits for a predetermined length of time.” The limits are specified by up-;per and lower operating thresholds that are prioritized by criticality level.
