Conservation Workshops Make an Impact: AFA Education Committee educates Alabama teachers on importance of forestry

The afa education committee put together a great plan for educating Alabama teachers about the importance of forestry, and Alabama's forest community stepped up to the plate and funded the plan - a list of sponsors will be provided in the winter issueof Alabama Forests. This year's attendance reached a new high with 98 teachers giving up part of their vacation to learn about natural resource management. The committee members agreed to continue hosting two workshops this year in Alabama's football capitals, Auburn and Tuscaloosa. The Tuscaloosa workshop was held at the North River Yacht Club and Warner Lodge in June. The teachers were stunned by the accommodations and actually took more photos inside than outside. Thirty-eight of the 45 teachers drove from more than two hours away, some from as far as Ardmore and Gulf Shores.
