THE INEFFICIENCIES IN MECHANICAL SYSTEMS ARE JUST A cost of doing business for many oil and gas producers. Graham Illingworth, president and chief executive of Genalta Power Inc., sees opportunity in those inefficiencies. Genalta, however, isn't in the business of helping other companies become more efficient. Instead, the Calgary-based company takes waste energy and turns it into electricity. "We are not trying to make the actual process that we are taking the waste from more efficient; we are recovering the waste energy," Illingworth says. "Energy can't be created or destroyed. It can only change form."
