When the financial crisis devastated milk prices in 2009, a local dairyman was determined to find a way to enhance the value of his milk. He had a healthy productive herd of about 60 Holsteins. He investigated processing his ownmilk eventually deciding to produce Gouda cheese and yogurt.A nearby college offered a course on cheesemaking and provided their facilities as a business incubator. The instructors also provided education on marketing strategies, which are often the main reason for business failure.
