DB Cargo fined ?2.7m over electrocution

Britain's largest rail freight company, DB Cargo (UK), has been fined ?2.7m after two boys received electric shocks from an overhead wire carrying 25,000 volts. One boy, 13, suffered serious burns and had both legs amputated. DB Cargo (UK), a subsidiary of German railway company Deutsche Bahn, was found guilty of breaching Section 3(1) of the Health and Safety at Work Act at Newcastle Crown Court in a prosecution brought by the Office of Rail and Road (ORR), the rail sector's safety regulator.
