摘要

A range of proposals have been set out by the government in a move it said will overhaul and simplify current planning process and expand homebuilding nationally. However, questions have been raised from architecture and construction trade bodies about the impact of the proposals on the power local authorities will have to steer building policy. Provisions set out within the Planning For The Future document include an expectation that all new homes will be zerocarbon-ready when built. This will mean they can become netzero carbon properties without need for costly additional retrofit work over the coming decades. The proposed amendments, which are subject to a 12-week public consultation that started on 6 August, are expected to build on the aims of the government's Future Homes Standard. This seeks to ensure that new-build homes deliver 75 to 80 per cent lower carbon emissions than current buildings.
