Shelf Drilling has agreed to buy 2008-delivered Keppel FELS Class B jackup Ocean Scepter from Diamond Offshore. Total cost (including purchase price, expected reactivation, and mobilisation costs) is expected to be around USD 90 million. The premium high-specification unit is currently located in the US Gulf and upon delivery will be mobilised to the Middle East. The purchase will increase Shelf Drilling's fleet of jackups from 39 to 40 rigs. The acquisition will be funded with proceeds from the Initial Public Offering completed earlier in June, and cash on hand. Delivery is expected during third quarter 2018.
