Nationwide Student Health physical Examination in Tuvalu

In 2016, a medical group was sent from Chung Shan Medical University Hospital, Taiwan to conduct a nationwide health-screening project for students aged 6 to 15 years in Tuvalu. The program was cooperated with WHO, Embassy of Taiwan in Tuvalu, and the government of Tuvalu. The modified structural form for health examination was used to evaluate the status of growth and developmental. By covering 90.2% students, results showed the common abnormalities were in the fields of oral, ear, skin diseases, and urinalysis. Responses to the results include repeating the urinalysis in specific children; sending dentists for dental tour; healthcare education and designed handbooks about health-related issues in dual languages. This project echoes the issue of "good health and well-being"- one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Such program established a good model of outstanding achievement in corporate social responsibility, ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages.
