Asian Spot Prices Rise for First Time in Four Months,But Still Lower Than Europe

Spot LNG prices in Northeast Asia rose for the first time in nearly four months,pulled up by rising oil prices and incremental demand from India and China,but market fundamentals remain soft,suggesting that significant upside is unlikely for now.Asian prices increased 15￠ to $4.50 per million Btu,according to World Gas Intelligence assessments for deliveries four to eight weeks ahead,but are still lower than spot prices in Southwest Europe,which were assessed 55￠ higher at $4.80/MMBtu.The UK National Balancing Point day-ahead price was assessed 47￠ higher at $4.96/MMBtu,while the May contract jumped 74￠ to $5.11/MMBtu.Netbacks in Asia were 50/MMBtu lower than in Southwest Europe,while UK/Belgian net-backs were almost 60￠ higher than in Asia.
