NKT has officially turned over a 163-km-long high-voltage AC cable system in the North Sea to Quinor - an international energy company based in Norway that formerly was known as Statoil - that it reports represents a world record. A press release said that the world's longest installed submarine HVAC cable is also important because it is very carbon efficient, and once up, will annually reduce the site's carbon footprint by 200,000 metric tons.
