In March 2014, Arboretum Foundation Special Projects Manager Randall Hitchin led me and other fellow staffers on an expedition to the bald cypress swamp in the Arboretum wetlands. Randall warned us that it would require some bushwhacking, and that the ground would be soggy—but he also promised a worthwhile trip.
