Canine tumour suppressor gene p53 - mutation in a case of adenoma of circumanal glands.

DNA was extracted from 50 neoplasms in different dogs and was compared with DNA from 5 healthy dogs. Two segments of the canine p53 gene were amplified separately from each sample. All samples had identical sequences except for an alteration in codon 249 at exon 7 of CGG TGG (arginine tryptophan) in an adenoma of the circumanal glands. No mutations were detected on human hot spot codons 175, 245, 248, 273 and 282 or at any other position in the p53 gene from the tumour samples.
