Covid-19 - returning to work safely

The Return to Work Safely Protocol is a mandatory set of steps and processes that all businesses in Ireland, including veterinary practices, must take to reduce the spread of Covid-19 in the workplace. It, as well as associated templates and checklists, is available from the Health & Safety Authority (HSA) website (www.hsa.ie).The 29-page Protocol is the result of a collaborative effort by the HSA, the Health Services Executive (HSE) and the Department of Health following discussion and agreement at the Labour Employer Economic Forum (LEEF), which includes representatives fromGovernment, the trade unions and employers. The Protocol is designed to support employers and workers (employees, locums, contractors, etc.) to put measures in place that will prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the workplace, while the economy begins toslowly open up. At its launch on May 9,2020, Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys confirmed that: "This Protocol is mandatory, and it applies to all workplaces right across the economy."
