Ziehl-Abegg launches in-wheel electric drive with independent suspension

Germany - Ziehl-Abegg (ZA) of Kuenzelsau, revealed its new electric in-wheel hub motor with independent suspension and a modular construction kit for the spring suspension system with either conventional pneumatic or hydro-pneumatic at the IAA exhibition last month. The company claims this opens up a totally new range of options for interior design, low-floor use and weight class. It also provides a totally new driving experience resulting from the refined suspension, which, ZA said, also delivers a consistent reduction in tyre wear. This technology has already attracted the interest of several commercial vehicle manufacturers, it claimed.
