Highlights?Thermal decomposition of TBP & mixture of DBP+MBP in the presence & absence of HNO3was studied.?Neat TBP is stable up to 527K, while the irradiated TBP exhibits decomposition beyond 513K.?Rise in temperature and pressure increases exponentially with increase of HNO3content.?Thermo-kinetic parameters were derived for the decomposition reactions.?Decomposition products were characterised by FT-IR and QMS techniques.AbstractTri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) is employed in nuclear reprocessing plants.
