The Performance Additives business segment makes and sells white and coloured pigments, water-treatment chemicals and timber-treatment chemicals. Its manufacturing facilities include a plant at Duisburg-Homberg, making up to 100,000 t.p.a. of lithopone, zinc sulfide and various other barium- and zinc-based pigments and functional additives; four iron oxide pigment plants (in China, Germany, Italy and the US), with a combined capacity of 80,000 t.p.a.; a 15,000 t.p.a. ultramarine pigment plant at Comines (northern France); and six plants making about 50,000 t.p.a. of various other coloured pigments (in Australia, the UK and the US); and three facilities in Germany for making up to 140,000 t.p.a. of water-treatment chemicals (notably poly-aluminium chloride). Venator also has a 50% stake in the Viance joint venture (partnering DuPont), with two facilities for making up to 140,000 t.p.a. of timber-treatment chemicals (one at Freeport, Texas, one at Harrisburg, North Carolina).
