Nordic Countries Join Race To Withdraw OTC Ranitidine

Denmark, Finland and Norway are the latest European countries to withdraw from sale certain OTC ranitidine-based drugs following a world- wide alert over the ingredient’s safety. National regulators in the three Nor- dic countries have withdrawn from sale all OTC and prescription versions of ranitidine in response to fndings by the European Medicines Agency and US Food and Drug Administration that certain presentations of the drug were contaminated with NDMA, a probable human carcinogen.
