Claire’s Caves, Recalls Makeup Products Following FDA’s Asbestos Finding

Claire’s Stores, Inc. is voluntarily recalling lots of three make- up products “out of an abundance of caution,” one week af- ter FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb made it known that the retailer refused the agency’s request to do so. With its March 5 safety alert, FDA confrmed reports tracing back to late 2017 that cosmetics in Claire’s stores, which cater to girls and young women, were contaminated with asbestos.
