Tribute to Bryan Wardley, AGS Vice-President

Bryan Wardley, a Vice-President of the Alpine Garden Society and for many years our Director of Tours, passed away on October 13 at the age of 83.Bryan was born in Barnet, Hertfordshire, gaining a degree in mechanical engineering from Cambridge University in 1958. His entire career was spent with ICI, which involved much overseas travel. It was this, and his wife Cynthia's enthusiasm for alpines,that stimulated his interest in mountainous regions and their flora. Cynthia recalls: 'I once had to point out to him, as we were exploring a mountain slope in the Alps, that he was trampling the flowers!'
