Why gardeners should read (and write) more poetry

Poetry, as with gardening, stimulates all our senses, gives us new ways of looking at things and can both reassure and surprise us at the same time. Are too many gardeners missing out?Given that I write poetry about gardens, it's probably tempting to answer the headline statement with a 'she would say that, wouldn't she?'. But I believe reading more poetry can help us enjoy gardening even more - in fact, it may even make us better gardeners.
