Indian miners to set up offices in Singapore

Ten to twelve iron ore mining companies from India are expected to set up offices in Singapore within the next year in a move to internationalise their businesses, says Basant Poddar, vice-president of the Federation of Indian Mineral Industries (FIMI). The companies should move out of their home bases and operate in the international environment, using derivative tools such as the iron ore swap contract in Singapore to expand their business scope, Poddar said on the sidelines of the Indian Iron Ore Summit held in Singapore on this week.
