Cheers, hugs and applause greeted the announcement that 321 full- and part-time librarians and related staff at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh overwhelmingly voted in August to become new members of the USW. Librarians, library assistants, clerks and IT professionals who work for the library at 19 branches and a support center launched their organizing campaign last June and can now begin the process of bargaining a first contract.
