BASF slips in first quarter

Reduced demand for fungicides to control Asian soybean rust (Phakopsora pachyrhizi) in Brazil and North America contributed to a 3.2% decline in BASF's agrochemical sales to EURO928 million (1,1 14 million) in the first quarter of 2006.The appreciation of the Real and low commodity prices put pressure on customers in Brazil,the company notes.
