New concept for coal tar processing to advanced carbon materials from coal tar pitch

Coal tar was distd. under atm. pressure to sep. oil fraction and soft pitch residue processed then by thermal treatment and optionally by carbonization or graphitization to carbonaceous materials to check a new concept of coal tar processing. High quality mesophase coal tar pitch was obtained as the final product.
