Minimising complications in soft tissue surgery — recent advances

It is inevitable that all surgeons will encounter complications. Surgical training has traditionally focused on refinement of technical skills in an attempt to reduce the severity and frequency of these complications. There is a growing body of evidence, however, that core 'non-technical skills' (NTS) are equally essential to surgical teams. This article will discuss how these NTS can be applied to veterinary surgery in order to reduce both patient morbidity and mortality.
