Students have to continuously develop knowledge and skills on par with developments in technology so they can cope up with expectations of future employers. Elsewhere in the world, advanced technology as well as low-cost labor is available and the advantage of technological superiority of United States is eroding compared to other countries. Hence, it is necessary to tune the educational curriculum to include latest developments so that university graduates will be suitable for the tasks they have to take up. Many methods have been used to evaluate existing curriculum and modify them. This study focuses implementing technology and teaching techniques that will help students to achieve high retention and engagement. The approach was to first understand the expectations of the students via survey instruments, followed by using quality function deployment to consider class modification. The information received from the surveys was used to redesign the existing course content to successfully achieve high retention and engagement. (26 Refs.)
