Faced with the prospect of further restrictions on the use of a key sprout suppressant, chlorpropham or CIPC, UK growers could face an uncertain future and crippling clean-up costs, delegates heard. Without new products such as DMN (1,4-dimethylnapthalene), which is already used in mainland Europe, they will struggle to manage dormancy and quality in store.
