US approval for novel FMC fungicide

FMC has received US approval for a fungicide based on a novel active ingredient for use on grapevines, strawberries, tomatoes, almonds, stone fruit and ornamentals. Fracture is based on a polypeptide, BLAD, which is derived from beta-conglutin. The EPA notified receipt of a registration application from the Portuguese company, Consumo em Verde (CEV), under the name, Problad Plus, last year (Agrow No 635, p 20). FMC has an exclusive development and distribution deal with CEV for the fungicide (Agrow No 634, p 3). It plans to conduct an extensive testing programme for the fungicide this year.
