Satinderjit Singh S/o Bikramjit Singh belonging to village Kahma district Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar is a progressive farmer, who is using different straw management techniques for cultivation of wheat crop without residue burning. For example, during2018-19, he has sown wheat crop with Happy Seeder on an area of six acres and with paddy straw incorporation on an area of 14 acres. To synchronize his agriculture with time, he always prefers new technologies developed by Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and remains keen to adopt them. He is in regular contact with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Langroya through various events like field days, farmer meetings etc. since last six years. According to him, this technology not only helps in timely sowing of wheat but also curbs the environmental pollution due to burning of crop residues. As per him, other benefits like less fuel consumption, less wearing and tearing of machinery etc. motivated him to adopt this technology. He further added that conventional practice needs 7-8 cultivations for seedbed preparation before sowing of wheat crop but with Happy Seeder technology opening of soil, sowing and covering can be done simultaneously.
