Jalandhar farmers adopt residue incorporation technologies

Gurpinder Singh S/o Satnam Singh is a progressive farmer from Village Ajtani, Block Nurmahal, Distt. Jalandhar. He is doing farming on 14 acres of land and growing mainly paddy and wheat crops. He has purchased one Happy Seeder machine in 2018. He contacted KVK team for the technical guidance about this technology and attended a five day crop residue management training from KVK, Jalandhar. He has done direct drilling of wheat with Happy Seeder machine successfully in standing paddy stubbles after combine harvesting of paddy.Initially he was reluctant about Happy Seeder after watching crop growth in standing stubbles as the crop growth at initial stages is not visible due to presence of straw in the field. But monitoring wheat growth after a fortnight in comparison to othersowing methods and adjoining fields of fellow farmers, he is fully satisfied with this technology. He told that in certain areas of his land, previously, there was problem in wheat crop germination and growth but in the current year, the crop growth on that particular area of land is at par with other fields.
