BP oil and gas output falls 5 pct

LONDON, England (Reuters) - BP said its oil and gas production fell 5 percent in the fourth quarter of 2006 compared to the previous year, undershooting analysts' forecasts and fueling investors' fears about the oil major's ability to grow. Shares in the world's third-largest western oil company by market capitalization fell 2.4 percent to 539 pence each by 1020 GMT, compared to a 1.1 percent drop in the D J Stoxx European oil and gas sector index. BP was the biggest blue-chip loser in an overall stronger European stock market.
