This is my last column to you, as my 4 years as Operations Committee (Board) Chairman will expire at the Council Meeting on Sunday 25 November in Sydney. It has been an honour to have served as Chairman and for that I extend my thanks to Council for electing me. I would also like to sincerely thank the ACA Directors and Branch Representatives who have been members of the Operations Committee over the last 4 years, for their efforts and contributions. It has been a pleasure having participated with you. I have gained much from the experience and in the main enjoyed it. There are (and were) some very capable people on the Operations Committee who make the time and do more than most members realise. I am not going to detail to you, nor take any credit for, the various changes that have occurred over the last 4 years. The credit goes to the Operations Committee, ACA Staff, Branch Committees, Technical Groups, ACA Lecturers and Conference Committees. They and you know what the changes have been and improvements made, most which have been for the better, some are still to come. I think the ACA is better positioned, more relevant and more worthwhile than at any time in the past. The future looks bright. To my successor, whoever that is, I will gladly hand over the baton (as Peter Farinha described it) and as Peter also -put it, to a faster runner! However, I hope I can still be a member of the Operations Board, at least for a few more years, as there are some specific initiatives that I am involved with and would like to progress further.
