The EU and Canada have agreed a one-month extension to the deadline for the EU to comply with a WTO ruling to lift national bans on genetically modified crops.The new deadline is July 31st 2008.The European Commission has still to resolve Austria's ongoing ban on the cultivation of two EU-approved crops.Last month,the EU agreed a similar deadline extension to August 12th with Argentina {Agrow No 546,p 8).Canada,Argentina and the US complained to the WTO about the EU's GM crop approval system and national bans over four years ago.
