Chinese mills planning massive containerboard downtime as RCP runs short

Six major producers announced this week that they have arranged up to 20 days of downtime on a total of more than 40 recycled fiber-based paper and board (P&B) machines in China due to a shortage of recovered paper (RCP). Board market supply will be curtailed by an estimated 360,000 tonnes from mid-July to late August (see table below).
