Many small refineries forced to close down in Shandong / Reopening subject to strict conditions

Since mid-July 2017, the Chinese authorities have forced more than 30 of the independent, small refineries (known as "teapots") located in Shandong province to temporarily close down. This also includes a large number of small downstream lines for propylene oxide, PVC and synthetic rubber for tyres, reports Reuters. Non-licenced petrol stations are also affected. A precise overview is not possible, particularly since a number of plants are now eligible to come back onstream again after implementing the modifications that comply with the strict conditions.
