Molded foam can help create more insulation while also simplifying pan des'gn. Agricultural equipment maker John Deere is making use of these properties to create a new underfloor insulated HVAC duct for a backhoe. The molded foam part wes manufactured in two pieces that are infrared-weld-ed together to form a single-piece, air-distribution system housed beiow the backhoe cab. Using a foam additive created a large bubble structure that formed -in insulation barrier around the cooled air.
