Conservation works to the facade of the heritage listed Dymocks Building located in George Street, Sydney were completed in the period between 2008 and 2010. The George Street facade is a terracotta faience facade, which consists of terracotta blocks moulded and formed to replicate carved stone. This technique was employed circa the 1920s as a more economical method of achieving the look of a carved stone building. In the case of Dymocks, the terracotta had an applied glaze which was designed to replicate the appearance of grey granite.
