Various methods for describing the densities of particle-hole states are considered. The calculation formalism of the density of particle-hole states is considered in detail within the equidistant approximation, taking into account the Pauli principle, the finite depth of the potential well, the pairing effect the averaged energy dependence of the single-particle density, spin dependence, and the separation of particles and holes into protons and neutrons.
