Toxicities of deltamethrin 2.8 EC, novaluron 10 EC. thiodicarb 75 WP, chlorpyriphos 20 EC and chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SL against third instar larvae of Spodotera litura, collected from Amritsar, Kapurthala and Ludhiana are reported by the standard 'Leaf-disc dip' method bioassay. LC_(50) values for the respective insecticides were: Amritsar population 2.61783,0.05858,0.33492,2.29312 and 0.00008 per cent, Kapurthala population 2.52794, 0.05144,0.31722,2.10967 and 0.00007 per cent and Ludhiana population 1.83450,0.05228,0.30269,1.83450 and 0.00001 per cent, respectively. The order of toxicity of the insecticides was chlorantraniliprole > novaluron > thiodicarb > chlorpyriphos > deltamethrin against all the three populations. The maximum level of resistance in S. litura was observed for deltamethrin followed by chlorpyriphos, thiodicarb and novaluron. This assessment of changing insecticide resistance will enable its proper management in future.
