Saudi budget balance ‘unlikely by 2023’

Saudi Arabia will struggle to meet its target of balancing its budget by 2023, according to the IMF. “An oil price of $73/bl in 2023 would be needed” to balance the books, far higher than the IMF’s baseline price of $59/bl for that year. Recent price increases will help the deficit to fall to 4.6pc this year and to around 2pc in 2019 from 9.3pc of GDP last year.
