Cyberattacks on oil and natural gas companies are becoming more frequent and sophisticated, heightening concerns over the potential for financial and operational risk, as the industry accelerates its digitisation drive. Russian state-controlled Rosneft and Denmark's Maersk fell victim to a widespread cyberattack on 27 June. The companies' upstream operations were not disrupted, but the breach occurred less than two months after another cyberattack hit a power utility and a French cloud service provider that lists Total among its customers.
