摘要

Many driving forces have contributed the dramatic changes in paper making during the last 20 years,changes,which have had a resulting impact on retention systems.They include:Demands in brightness:Almost all paper grades are now printed in four colours.Printing surface quality and the visual look of final print product are critical.In order to achieve the highest brightness,fillers such as GCC and PCC have replaced kaolin and chalk.New demanding fillers such as gypsum are being used and as a result of these filler changes,more paper is produced in neutral conditions.Fibres are bleached to a higher level resulting in bleaching residuals carrying over to the short loop circulation and OBA use is increasing in a greater variety of paper production.
