PaintCare Expands Into The Empire State New York Creates Statewide Paint Recycling Program

Anew law approved by the New York State Legislature and signed by Gov.Andrew Cuomo will create a program to allow residents and businesses to recycle unwanted paint.According to the New York Product Stewardship Council,the industry-managed paint recovery and recycling program will recycle more than 2 million gallons of paint annually.Currently,almost all unwanted paint is disposed of in landfills or waste-to-energy facilities,according to PaintCare,a nonprofit organization created by the paint industry through the American Coatings Association.The new program will reduce the financial burden of waste management that local governments now shoulder and will create recycling sector jobs to reprocess millions of gallons of paint for reuse and recycling.
