摘要

This special section contains six papers covering topics on: the sustainable integration of cropping into rangelands in the USA; peasant farming systems in Gansu, China; the growth and water use of deep-rooted lucerne on the Loess Plateau of China; the positive consequences of excluding grazing in rangelands on soil properties; the impact of grazing on the growth and population dynamics of grassland species; and the potential impacts of fungal pathogens on grassland species.
