Background: Ligation of intersphincteric fistula tract has gained increasing popularity as a sphincter-sparing technique for complex anal fistula. The present review aimed to investigate the pooled success and complication rates of ligation of intersphincteric fistula tract in the published literature and to explore the risk factors for failure after ligation of intersphincteric fistula tract.
