Mechanics of Ultra-slim Television Sets with Glass Light Guide Plate

摘要

The demand for compact and rigid back-light unit is growing as the television sets are getting thinner and larger. The glass light guide plate (LGP) is suitable for such applications owing to its higher bending stiffness, and low thermal and moisture expansion over its plastic counterpart. Numerical simulations and experiments suggest that the rigidity of TV sets can be improved with partial lamination of glass and back-channel without compromising the optical performance.
