To achieve high trapping efficiency, the filter thickness must be thick. However,thicker filters have the disadvantage of making regeneration difficult because of the thermaldistribution in the direction of thickness. Therefore, in order to improve regeneration efficiency, theauthors designed an optimal filter-heater construction using computer simulations to achieve uniformthermal distribution, and confirmed its high regeneration efficiency.
