Modular DPF System for Urban Buses by Katsuhiko Yore, Shunsuke Ban, Yoke Watanabe,Tsutomu Ohoka, Hidetoshi Saito, Masataka Oji, Shire Nakajima, Satoru Okamoto The authors havedeveloped a diesel particulate filer (DPF) in which porous metal is used as a filter due to its highthermal conductivity, and a radiation heater is used for a regeneration device due to its uniformthermal distribution. To achieve high trapping efficiency, the filter thickness must be thick. However,thicker filters have the disadvantage of making regeneration difficult because of the thermaldistribution in the direction of thickness. Therefore, in order to improve regeneration efficiency, theauthors designed an optimal filter-heater construction using computer simulations to achieve uniformthermal distribution, and confirmed its high regeneration efficiency.
